Can anyone recommend a good route from Delhi to Kerala? And a good mode of transportation? This will be my first trip to India, so I'm looking for some noob info.

Mon, July 6, 2009 - 8:49 PMtrain is the only way to travel in india. 2nd class sleeper. though perhaps flying if money isn't a problem. it's a very long way from delhi to kerala. i certainly wouldn't do it in one trip. -

Thu, July 9, 2009 - 7:29 AMAt this point, there's not a thing I want to miss in India. I've waited so long to be able to go! But, I suppose I don't have the time to cover every square inch! I know relatively little about India, so suggestions of things to see are helpful. But, I think that anywhere we end up will be just fine with me! I'll check out those places you mention- thanks! -

Thu, July 9, 2009 - 8:13 AMif you're going to be there in november, I recommend checking out the pushkar camel fair - pretty amazing gathering of thousands of camels & their dealers. and it's south of delhi, which sort of puts it on your route. -

Fri, July 10, 2009 - 10:45 AMHOW MUCH TIME DO YOU HAVE? I took one month to see,
Delhi, Jaipur (ride Elephant), Agra (Taj Mahal www.kumbhmela.org/KM51taj.html ), with a car and driver,
then flew to Allahabad for the Kumbh Mela festival (only in January www.kumbhmela.org/KM36allahabad.html ),
flew to Poona to see the Osho Ashram,
then flew to Goa to enjoy the beaches,
and ended in Bangalore for the shopping.
Oh, did I mention I got engaged in Jaipur?
If time is an issue, the trains can take a day or two, and flights are cheap... to see more places fly... If you got all the time take a train, I think it is 7 days from Delhi to Bangalore.
Oh and have fun... I hope to go back for my 10th visit next April for a special Kumbh Mela festival in Hardwar! -

Leaves Delhi daily at 11:30 am it takes 50 hours to reach Trivandrum (last stop).
You can book online in advance to get the seats you want by using a credit card
and you print out your own ticket :-)
