Well, the subject is rather self explanatory. I am fairly sure that people are not allowed to be nearly as open as in (for example) Britain or even here; but has the acceptance level risen at all? I have the film 'Fire' (absolutely love it) and I know there was/is a lot of controversy about it. It was banned in many theatres if not the country. Is there a prevalent culture there?

Re: Homosexuality in India Today
Sun, March 23, 2008 - 5:58 AMi have heard that there is a lot of totally covert-taboo "men who have sex with men" relationships (not gay identified) because of the taboo against premarital sex and even holding hands with a girl. true?

Re: Homosexuality in India Today
Sun, March 23, 2008 - 3:47 PMthere is starting to be something like a westernized gay community in delhi and mumbai. particularly mumbai. there is one gay night at a bar in delhi and more than one in mumbai. but of course you still have to get married to a girl and have a family. if you're in the upper class or upper middle class sometimes you can do both.
