Re: vegetarian articulation
Wed, April 2, 2008 - 12:35 PMomg meredith. i would have died. puke. im so sorry for u.
thank god thats never happened to me. i honestly dont know what id do.
mutter is peas tho. i guess the waiter didnt understand. but the same thing used to happen to me every morning at blue sky in kolkata, when i would order cheese toast. the waiter would bring me egg cheese toast (we dont eat eggs either) when i was really ordering EK cheese toast -or one cheese toast. he didnt realize that i was speaking to him in hindi (i usually always speak hindi in india) and thats how he got it wrong. he should have realized it tho, since we were arguing in hindi as well....
lol- ahhhh good times in india....
again im sorry for that horrible experience.
i hope u ordered a nice mattar paneer to overcome the meat! or maybe they comped the meal ;)

Re: vegetarian articulation
Wed, April 2, 2008 - 6:29 PMYikes! What a mix up!
Our whole family is veg and Tamil Brahmins to boot so that means no garlic or onions either. We tend to eat at home mostly or stick to strictly veg places that we know are clean and good. Saravana Bhavan is one such establishment. -

Re: vegetarian articulation
Thu, April 3, 2008 - 6:04 AMit is a much better option to eat only in pure veg places. no mix ups that way. i also usually only eat at pure veg too. also no onions n garlic here....its prety easy in india that way....
here? forget about it! thats y we always eat at home too. we r lucky tho, we have two resaurants in montreal that use no onion or garlic. its a treat for when we want to go out.

Re: vegetarian articulation
Fri, April 4, 2008 - 8:32 AMIn Hindi the word for vegetarian is SHAKAHAARI. Perhaps, that might help, at least in North Indian places.
